If your dimmer light switch (SSWD01G/SSWD01GMBK) is exhibiting either of the below symptoms it suggests that the minimum load requirement for the no-neutral circuit has not been met.

  • The connected load is still on at a low brightness when the switch is in the off state [ghosting – refer to below video].
  • The connected load flickers at either minimum or maximum brightness

The Mercator Ikuü light dimmer switch requires a minimum load of 11W. In addition, low power factor LED lights (<0.8) can also affect the control circuitry due to signal harmonics and low power factor.

Solutions:

The connected lights are ghosting:

  • Increase the load to be >11W and/or use higher power factor LED lights
  • A load correction device may assist in the case of low power factor, however depending on the load connected this can still result in flickering at low brightness levels
  • Use SSWD01G-WIFI

The connected lights flicker at minimum brightness settings:

  • Adjust the minimum brightness via the mechanical dial on the faceplate to be above the flickering threshold
  • Use a higher power factor LED load

The connected lights flicker at maximum brightness settings:

  • Adjust the maximum brightness via the mechanical dial on the faceplate to be below the flickering threshold
  • Use a higher power factor LED load
  • A load correction device may assist to eliminate or reduce flickering at maximum brightness

Whilst the minimum brightness can be adjusted via the app, we recommend using the physical adjustment dials to adjust both the minimum and maximum dimming range to be outside the flickering range.

The below video demonstrates what ‘ghosting’ may look like.
